I must see that I do not condemn myself to the very wrong which I condemn.

I must not lend myself to the very wrong which I condemn.

I’ve been pondering this quote by Henry David Thoreau. Every one of us has a set of values-morals-principles that we hold dear to us. Of course—my fellow youngsters—these are still shifting and evolving as we grow, and that’s all a part of the process of becoming better people and a better society.

The quote simply tells us to live by our own moral systems and steer away from becoming the person we ourselves criticize. Always remember to practice what you preach and that hypocrisy is the crown jewel of deception.

Don’t stray into the moors of immorality that you yourself would burn to the ground.

Our torch is made of the nobility in our actions, speech and thoughts. Remember to hold the torch and lead yourself to conquering the darkness you know. Spread the flame blazingly and cremate the ignorance, inequity and injustice that surrounds our souls.
