As people of the 21st century, we are so acclimatized to a digital environment that provides us with seemingly ideal images of people, places and things. Even the IOS we use on a daily basis gives us a truly impeccable user interface to interact with every few hours.
When it comes to actual people, however, everything seems to falter and stagger, leaving us clueless at times of building relationships.
We’re always looking for personalities that are like our IOS—bright, cheerful and reliable after a good night’s sleep.
People can be quite the opposite—dark, critical and unstable.
There is one amazing thing we can do to put ourselves ahead of this! Don’t search for perfection in the people around you. Instead, when you meet someone, try to understand them and their perspective, which’ll make communication much easier! As interdependent creatures, we have to remember that we can’t save ourselves from struggles that hide themselves in the dark corners in every human heart. Offer an olive branch to friends and family, and most importantly strangers that could perhaps become friends! Pull each other out of the sands of misery and into the skies of elation. All we need to do is exchange just a little more time and energy with each other.
People can never be like our IOSs, rather they’re very much like a bowl of salad. Don’t look at the color to judge its taste. And while some may have a nice flavor already—others, with the right condiments and some added quirks, can be transformed into a delicacy.
At the end of the day, when we give someone our time and energy, we give them a part of ourselves that slowly diffuses through the rest of society through billions of interactions. Remember that and you will remember to be good to people around you—because that’s the bit of your identity that the world will paint unto itself.
